The brief
A lawn lost under weeds
The back garden of this Kingston house had gone. What had been lawn was a mat of weeds and ground cover, with old slabs sunk into it, and shrubs had spread out from the edges.
The owner wanted it back to a clean, usable lawn, with proper beds along the fences, and a small raised concrete section dealt with at the same time.

The build
Cleared, levelled, turfed
The old lawn and the shrubs marked for removal were cleared out and all the green waste taken away. The ground was then rotovated and levelled to an even surface, with fresh topsoil brought in where needed to give the new turf a good base to root into.
New beds were cut and shaped along the fence lines, and fresh turf was laid across the whole lawn area, then watered and rolled to press it firmly onto the soil. A small raised concrete section was broken out and levelled off with ballast and cement.
The whole job was done in one long day on site, with a full van of waste cleared away at the end.
The result
A garden you can use again
From weeds and rubble to an even green lawn running the length of the garden, with clean bed edges along both fences ready for planting. Once the turf has rooted, it is a lawn that just needs mowing.
