HD Landscapers rebuilt my front wall and alleyway exactly as planned. The new wall looks really nice, and the Victorian tiling and porcelain paving were finished to a very high standard. They were well priced, hard-working, and kept me informed throughout. Very happy with the result and would definitely recommend.

The brief

A period entrance that had worn out

The front wall was weathered and had started to fail, with cracked brickwork and a coping that no longer sat true. It was the first thing anyone saw walking up to the house.

The alleyway to the front door was bare concrete, stained and patched, with nothing left of the original period detail the terrace would have had.

The owners wanted the entrance to look right for the age of the house without becoming a pastiche, and they wanted a surface that would take daily foot traffic for years.

The design stage

Drawn before it was dug

We specified a Victorian style tiled path in a black and white diamond pattern, bordered and framed so the run reads as a proper path rather than a strip of tile.

Anthracite pavers were used for the border and the step, which pick up the dark tiles and give a hard wearing edge where the path meets the walls.

The wall was redesigned as a clean rendered structure with stone copings and piers, then finished with bespoke railings made to suit the property rather than an off the shelf panel.

The result

Character and durability back at the front door

The rebuilt wall gives the frontage a clean straight line again, and the bespoke railings lift the whole elevation. The tiled path with its anthracite border brings back the period detail the terrace was missing, on a surface that handles daily traffic and washes clean.
