Garden maintenance and gardening services, by an employed gardener

We are a hard landscaping company first, and maintenance grew out of that: the gardens we design and build need looking after, so we employ a gardener rather than handing our clients to somebody else. That means the same company is accountable for the garden in year three as on handover day.

Visits are usually fortnightly through the growing season and monthly over winter: borders weeded and edged, hedges cut at the right time of year, lawn care, pruning to the planting plan, and the beds mulched in spring. Green waste goes with us.

We take on gardens we did not build too, within our radius. It is honest work and it often turns into something bigger. Plenty of our transformations started as a maintenance visit where the terrace was past saving.

Your options

What our gardeners cover

  • Border care

Weeding, edging, deadheading and cutting back to the planting plan, so the scheme keeps the shape it was designed with.

Best for: Gardens with a planting plan worth protecting.

  • Hedges and pruning

Cut at the right time of year for the species, rather than whenever the van is passing.

Best for: Established boundaries and specimen shrubs.

  • Lawn care

Cutting, edging, scarifying and feeding through the season, plus repair to worn areas.

Best for: Newly laid turf in its first two years.

  • Seasonal work

Spring mulch, autumn clear-down, and a check over the hard landscaping: joints, drainage and timber.

Best for: Keeping a build in warranty condition.

  • Clearances and tidy ups

Overgrown gardens cut back, brambles and ivy pulled out, beds cleared and everything taken away in one visit.

Best for: New house moves and gardens that got away over a season or two.

  • Planting

Tailored planting schemes drawn by our own designer, then planted and watered in by the gardeners who will look after them.

Best for: Tired borders and gardens with no planting plan.

  • Pressure washing

Patios, paths, driveways and steps washed down, with joints checked and re-sanded where they have gone.

Best for: Paving that has gone green over winter.

Where it leads

From maintenance to a garden worth maintaining

Some gardens only need cutting and clipping. Others are being maintained around a problem: a patio that ponds water, a rotten fence, a lawn that will not grow because the ground never drains, borders that were never given a plan.

If that is your garden we will say so, once, and give you a straight figure for putting it right. Our in-house designer can draw the scheme and our own crews build it, so a garden design or a full garden transformation is a conversation rather than a referral.

There is no pressure either way. If you want the grass cut and the hedges kept tidy, that is a perfectly good reason to have us there.

Design - Build - Bloom

Design - Build - Bloom, applied to maintenance

  1. Design

We work to the planting plan the garden was built from, so the scheme keeps its structure instead of being cut back to whatever is quickest.

  2. Build

The same crews who built the garden know what is under the surface: where the drainage runs, where the lighting cable sits and how the levels were set.

  3. Bloom

The point of the service. Mulch in spring, cut back in autumn, and a garden that reads as intentional in year three.

Rates

Our published maintenance rates

Maintenance and gardening work is priced by time rather than by project, so we publish the rates rather than make you ask. All prices include VAT.

  • £60

    Two man team, per hour

Our gardeners work in pairs, so a visit gets more done in less time and the garden is left finished rather than half cut.

  • £175

    Day rate, per gardener

Better value for clearances, big cut backs and anything that will take most of a day.

  • £60

    Pressure washing, per hour

Patios, paths and driveways washed down, with joints checked and re-sanded where they need it.

  • £25

    Green waste, per tonne bag

Everything we cut leaves with us and is disposed of under our waste carrier registration.

  • From £150

    Large tree removal

Priced on the tree once we have seen it, including access, dismantling and clearing the arisings.

  • Priced individually

    Larger projects

Full clearances, replanting schemes and anything that turns into a build get a fixed written price after a site visit.

Most clients settle into a regular slot: a two hour fortnightly visit suits a typical Thames Ditton garden, and larger plots take half a day.

Pricing

Priced per visit, so just ask

Maintenance is priced by time against the size of the garden and how often you want us. Tell us the address and how often you want us there and we will confirm the visit length and the cost.

FAQs

Maintenance questions we get asked

How often do you visit?

Usually fortnightly through the growing season and monthly over winter. Some gardens only need a spring and an autumn visit, which is fine too.

Do you take on gardens you did not build?

Yes, as long as you are within our radius and the garden fits an existing round. We are straight about capacity: gardens we designed and built get first call on the schedule, but we are actively taking on new maintenance clients in the towns close to the yard.

Do I need to be home?

No, as long as we can get to the garden. Most of our maintenance clients are at work when we visit.

What happens to the green waste?

It goes with us and is disposed of under our waste carrier registration. Nothing is left bagged by the side of the house.

How much does it cost?

Our rate is £60 per hour for a two man team, or £175 per day per gardener, both including VAT. Pressure washing is £60 per hour, green waste is £25 per tonne bag and large tree removal starts at £150. Larger clearances and planting projects are priced individually after a visit.

Do you do garden clearances and one off tidy ups?

Yes. A lot of our first visits are exactly that: an overgrown garden cut back, beds cleared, brambles out and everything taken away the same day. Plenty of clients then move onto a regular visit, but there is no obligation to.

Can you pressure wash the patio and driveway?

Yes, at £60 per hour. We wash paving down, check the joints and re-sand or re-point where the jet has taken the old jointing out, which is the step most people skip.

Can you plant the borders as well as cut them back?

Yes. Our in-house designer can put a planting scheme together, we supply the plants and the gardeners plant and water them in, then keep them on the maintenance round afterwards.

Is the work guaranteed?

Maintenance is a service rather than an installation, so there is nothing to warranty, but if a visit is not up to standard we come back and put it right.
